Dear Friends of the Liberal Arts and Social Sciences,
Women's History Month is celebrated by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences through several events that examine the local, national and global contributions of women in all areas of human endeavor.
Also, CLASS will be represented robustly at the Phi Beta Kappa installation ceremony on March 4 in the Moores Opera House. Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest academic honor society, has only 283 chapters nationwide. The six-year evaluation process was led by Dr. Andrew Davis, Professor of music, Director of the Moores School of Music and Planning Dean for the College of the Arts; and Dr. William Monroe, professor of English and Dean of the Honors College.
Finally, I encourage CLASS undergraduate students to apply for the College’s scholarships by the March 25 deadline. Every year, CLASS awards a number of scholarships to honor students while they are in the process of completing a degree at the University of Houston. The amount of award varies for each scholarship, and ranges from $500 to $2,500. Go here to read the rules and get the application. And if you would like to build student success in the College by funding a scholarship, please call the CLASS Development Office at 713-743-XXXX.
With appreciation,
Steven G. Craig
Interim Dean
