Three-judge 5th Circuit Panel to Convene at UH Law Center in March

5th Circuit Court of AppealsThe 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will bring its docket to the University of Houston Law Center in early March to hear oral arguments in eight cases. A three-judge panel will hear four cases on Tuesday, March 6, and four on Wednesday, March 7, in Krost Hall. Each case will be limited to 40 minutes of argument.

“This is a rare opportunity for our students to see a federal court in action,” said Law Center Professor Leslie Griffin who is acting as faculty liaison to the court. “Over two days, students can gain invaluable insight into the workings of the federal court system and get a taste of almost all the issues they study in law school – First Amendment, torts, civil procedure, business dealings, contracts and property.”

A 5th Circuit Court panel last convened at the Law Center in October 1999.

Students, the general public, and members of the media may enter and exit Krost Hall between each 40-minute session, but not while arguments are in progress. No backpacks, recording devices or cameras will be permitted in the hall.
