Ricky Raven Named Trustee of UH Foundation

The University of Houston Foundation is proud to announce the election of Ricky Raven as a Trustee of the Foundation. Raven is a partner at Reed Smith, LLP in Houston. 

Raven is a former Chair of the UH Alumni Association and serves on many civic boards, including the Houston Community College Foundation, the UH Health Science Center, the Ronald McDonald House of Houston and the Houston Symphony Orchestra.

His numerous honors include being selected to the Best Lawyers in America, to the Texas Super Lawyers, and he is listed among the “Most Influential Black Lawyers.” He is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court Bar, and a fellow of both the Texas and Houston Bar Foundations. 

Raven graduated with honors from the University of Houston in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 1986.

The University of Houston Foundation was chartered in 1960 to assist in meeting the needs of the University as it transitioned from a private school to a state assisted institution.  It is an independent organization with the sole purpose of obtaining and managing private funds in support of all universities in the UH System.  The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees – outstanding men and women who are committed to the importance of the roles of the Universities of Houston.
