By Bryan Luhn 713-743-0954

The University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership will celebrate the competitive flavors of the Big 12 Conference at its 2nd annual “Corks & Forks” wine tasting event on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.

“Corks & Forks” is organized and managed by Hilton College students and facilitated by Erin Kenyan, an instructional assistant professor. This year’s event will feature six red wines and six white wines in a battle for Big 12 supremacy.

“Just as the Big 12 Conference represents strength through collaboration, our students exemplify the power of teamwork, innovation and dedication,” Kenyan said. “They are crafting an unforgettable, world-class experience that will unite the love of fine wine with the spirit of community. And it’s another example of how we’re preparing tomorrow’s leaders in the global hospitality industry.”

Guests will have to bring their “A” game as they sip, savor and score these meticulously selected wines cultivated from California’s Napa Valley, Washington’s Walla Walla Valley and from the fertile hills of Argentina, South Africa and Italy. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

“It’s amazing to see my fellow students’ passion and dedication in planning this event,” said Sara Jamieson, a junior from Kingwood, Texas, and the student manager for Corks & Forks 2023. “This experience has not only allowed me to learn about event management first-hand, but it has also raised my confidence in my abilities and my interest in a career in hospitality.”
