The University of Houston's Institute for Global Engagement is gearing up for its highly anticipated Learning Abroad Spring Fair, an event that promises to open doors to a world of opportunities for students seeking international experiences.

The fair, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 6 in the Student Center South Ballroom, serves as a hub for students to discover the myriad resources and support provided by the Learning Abroad program. Students will have the chance to meet program and scholarship representatives, gaining insights into scholarship opportunities, passport services, and international travel support.

As a cornerstone of the Institute's Student Global Initiatives, the Learning Abroad program stands out as one of the largest and most diverse platforms for global exploration. With offerings that span more than 100 countries, students can choose from many program options. These include; faculty-led programs, exchange programs, affiliated programs and student service organizations abroad. Representatives will guide students on academic and program eligibility, helping them find the best fit for their global aspirations. Noteworthy is the collaboration with the Writing Center to assist students in applying for scholarships. Many Coogs abroad fund their programs with scholarships like the UH International Education Scholarship and the Gilman International Scholarship, and the fair will provide valuable insights into successfully applying for these opportunities.

Assistant Director for Leaning Abroad Andie Beer encourages students to attend this event and start their journey for global experiences.

“The fair serves as an introduction for the possibility of learning abroad and we make sure to cover many areas so students can leave empowered and excited to plan their learning abroad experience,” says Beer.

Attendees can look forward to an engaging, fun atmosphere, and giveaways, including free shirts while they last.

Beyond the fair, students can explore the Global Citizens Credential, further enriching their global learning experiences. The Global Citizens Credential is open to all undergraduate students, recognizing and enhancing their global knowledge and skills. Graduates receive a transcript notation, a Provost certificate, and an honor cord, distinguishing them as global citizens.

For those eager to explore the world, the Learning Abroad Spring Fair is a must-attend event, offering a passport to a transformative international journey.
